World Whisky Day takes place on the third Saturday in May each year, which means it falls on 19 May in 2018. Here’s how you can celebrate before, after or on the actual day (or all three!).
CAPE TOWN
Wade Bales Wine & Malt Whisky Affair
If you haven’t been to this indulgent event yet, you’re missing out – big time! Throw on something pretty and prepare for an evening of rare malts, gourmet nibbles and lots of whisky banter. But don’t get so caught up that you forget to listen out for the half-time bell, when the seriously good stuff gets whipped out for 15 magical minutes.

Proof, The American Whiskey Festival
If you want to learn more about American whiskey, here’s your chance. This street party will feature eight American whiskies – think Bulleit Bourbon and Woodford Reserve – four top chefs, a bunch of rock bands and a whole lot of US soul.

Kaya FM Wine & Malt Whisky Affair
Currently in its seventh year, this popular event brings more than 100 international whiskies (and some great snacks) under one roof. Once you’ve whittled the list down to your faves, you can shop away (optional, of course).

Whether you’re whisky curious or a connoisseur, Whisky Live has you covered. Grab your tasting glass, vouchers and water on arrival then wander your way from stall to stall, sampling local faves like Bain’s (DO NOT MISS THE BAIN’S ICE CREAM!) and international drams like Bunnahabhain and Dewar’s.
