In a world where the internet is like oxygen, there’s no better time to merge talent with technology. And leading the way is multimedia, which is why we are running a competition that involves all of SA’s chef schools and culinary training institutions.
What are we talking about?
We all know that food is first eaten with the eyes so we’re introducing a recipe development challenge that involves images and video. We’ll send each of the culinary schools a brief with set deadlines. The challenge will be to create a recipe with a twist and produce a fully finished piece of content ready to be published. The best recipe videos will be judged by a panel of passionate high-profile food personalities and featured on Food24’s platforms. The winner will be announced at the end of 2017 at a special awards celebration. Along with this, we’ll also announce the ‘best culinary school’ and the best recipe and video in each category.

The challenge is on! Who will be Food24’s NextGen SuperChef?!
The aim is to grow young talent as well as the industry. Not only will the student chef be awarded but the culinary school will also be acknowledged for all the work they do to prepare these student chefs to become working professionals.
At the end of the challenge, the judges will choose the top student from each category as well as the top student overall who will receive prize money to the value of R 15 000.
We will also choose the overall winning culinary school to share this accolade, they will be awarded on the quality and quantity of content submitted throughout the competition.
