On Human Rights Day in South Africa we commemorate the Sharpeville massacre which took place on 21 March 1960. In the rest of the world, Human Rights Day is on 10 December. This was the day (in 1948) when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
