Two brothers, James and Kwesi Ansah discovered an interesting way to generate electricity after they saw how members of their community were struggling to pay for the electricity provided by the government.
The two young men generate electricity from the waste of the cassava tuber, making electricity cost-effective. Cassava is native to South America and is a major source of nutrition for the populations of many countries.
It can be enjoyed in a variety of ways; including being cooked or baked. According to Healthline it can be eaten whole, grated or ground into flour to make bread and crackers.
“People found it difficult to have simple electricity so we decided, let’s find a solution that we can use to cassava to create electricity,” Kwesi told BBC.
