In today’s review round-up we’re going to focus on waiters.
I can tell you from nine years in the industry; you get many more badly behaved customers than waiters. Fact.
These are the people who think they have a divine right to the best table in the restaurant (even though it plainly has a “reserved” sign on it). Who, along with their weapons of mass destruction (kids), wreak havoc in your section. Who get horrendously drunk and forget to leave a tip. I could go on for days.
But sometimes you just get a server who has just been pushed that little bit too far and who retaliates. And of course the ones whose service is just a bit too attentive. We’ve highlighted two such incidents in this week’s reviews.
What did you just say?
Check out what happened at Rossi’s recently when a waiter was called an “idiot” by an irate customer. He responded by dropping the F-bomb in front of the kids. Ouch.
I think the customer was wrong in this case to call the waiter an idiot. In fact I’d like to poke his eyes out…but unfortunately that is not the way it works. Especially not in front of the children.
Who ordered the touchy feely guy
Sometimes however servers cross the line all by themselves as customers who visited Gateway to India in Camp’s Bay, recently discovered. There’s nothing wrong with friendly service but it can get a little, well, creepy. Check out the creep in that review.
