Unilever Chef of the Year

The winner of last year’s Unilever Foodsolutions Senior Chef of the Year, Jodi-Ann Pearton (nee Palmer) recently walked away with R40 000 in the Unilever Foodsolutions By Invitation Only Chef of the Year 2009 – that leaves R90 000 up for grabs in the Senior, Junior and Team categories in September.

Do you have what it takes to stake your claim?

The Unilever Foodsolutions Chef of the Year has become one of the most well-participated competitions on the culinary calendar. Since its early days as the Marvello Chef of the Year, the competition has continued to grow in status and reward, with a total of R130 000 being given away this year.

The chefs who have won the title of Marvello and Unilever Foodsolutions Chef of the Year have gone on to achieve great heights in their careers.

Attracting entries in the Senior, Junior and Team categories, the Unilever Chef of the Year is held regionally in Cape Town on 3 August, Johannesburg on 5 August and Durban on 7 August, with the finalists from these three semi-finals competing in a final mystery basket cook-off at Unilever Foodsolutions in Durban on 11 September.

The three categories of the competition allow for entries by all levels of chefs – the Senior being for chefs with more than five years of professional culinary experience and the Junior being for chefs with less than five years’ experience.

The Team competition is open to teams consisting of four members; a team manager (or executive chef), senior cook, junior cook and a waitron.

Don’t miss the opportunity to put your creative culinary skills to the test and to put yourself in the media spotlight at this year’s Unilever Foodsolutions Chef of the Year.
