Travelling foodies

So the holidays are almost here. Soon we’ll be losing it trying to squeeze the last bits of the Weber braai into the Venter trailer, and hitting the road to the coast.

We are super-excited at Food24 HQ because this holiday season is just going to be awesome!

Last week we threw all sorts of festive recipes and ideas at you –  if you missed it go and have a gander at our lovely festive page. It’s full of fantastic festive stuff.

This week we turn our attention to the travelling and roadtrips.  We’d like you to be able to find whatever restaurant you are looking for easily with Food24.

If you are going away for the holidays to KZN then have a look at these restaurants in Durban, Umhlanga and surrounding area.

Gautengers – there’s plenty happening in your hometown if you aren’t getting away to the coast this year. The Maboneng district is rocking the new foodie hotspots with cool things to do.

Have you thought about visiting Clarens in the Free State in your time off? After reading this lovely restaurant round-up I can’t wait to check it out.

If you are visiting the Garden Route and hitting Plett and Knysna or thereabouts, then we have some wonderful eateries, bakeries and even breweries for you to check out.

PE is cooking this time of year and if you haven’t visited Richmond Hill then you certainly need to!

People heading to Cape Town are in for a treat. Not only are all the winelands restaurants in full bloom but Cape Town itself is exploding with new places to go. And every week we will update our Cape Town section with new and exciting foodie developments.

If you have an iPhone then you must download our food24 restaurant app. It’s brills. It finds restaurants near you. Quickly.

So if you know of any really awesome restaurants that are off the beaten track – or on it – for anyone travelling over the holidays then please email us on editor@food24.com with your special gems and we’ll add them to our “places to go this summer” lists.

Plus, South Africa’s Top 24 cocktail bars were recently nominated by Diageo World Class regional ambassadors, so make sure you pay at least one of them a visit!

Start planning that trip folks!
