Tour Obama style

It has become a tradition that, before an official White House dinner, reporters are taken to the State Dining Room to view the china, linen, stemware, and flowers being used.

Michelle Obama has taken it upon herself to revamp this tradition.

The New York Times reported that before the Obama’s first official dinner; honouring the nation’s governors; reporters as well as top students from the L’Academie de Cuisine were invited into the white house kitchen to witness the preparations.

The lucky few met the kitchen staff, and watched the chefs prepare a citrus salad with watermelon radishes, Chesapeake crab agnolotti, a dish of wagyu beef and Nantucket scallops (the prez’s fav). They even got to sample a bit of dessert.

Mrs Obama took this opportunity to advocate the significance of local and sustainable food and the importance of eating healthy.

When asked what her favourite meal was though, Mrs Obama guilty replied that though she like them all, the waffles and grits have become a regular meal on the white house family table.
