Imagin Classic Gin has just been named the South African winner for the Classic Gin Category at the 2023 World Gin Awards. This handcrafted, double-distilled gin has beaten hundreds of well-known and established gins to take the top spot. Not only did it just win top honours, it’s also wallet-friendly, costing R169.99 per bottle.

Crafted by KWV, a South African liquor giant renowned for its brandy, this double-distilled London Dry Gin has a unique blend of botanicals that the judges believed set it apart from other gins.

“This is a massive honour for our team,” says KWV Spirits Marketing Executive Nuno Fernandes. “This award shows that a high-quality gin doesn’t have to break the bank.”

The World Gin Awards is a platform that selects the best gins in internationally recognised gin styles and promotes the world’s best to consumers. The award reaffirms the quality, innovation and creativity of local South African spirits.

The various categories are based on the commonly held gin groupings that define the style and process of its production. The judges had this to say about Imagin Classic: “A solid classic gin with a clean, smooth texture and good alcohol integration. This has a lovely botanical character and ticks all of the boxes, wrapped up with a dry, juniper-forward finish.”

What makes Imagin Classic stand out? Its notable taste and its fresh and invigorating blend of juniper, fruity aromas and lemon flavours that make it an appealing choice for gin lovers. With a hint of spice and fresh lemon peel, it has a distinctively smooth mouthfeel.

How best to drink it? The KWV team recommend serving it with Indian tonic, and garnished with a wedge of lemon for a crisp G&T experience.

Cheers to South African spirits and a gin that is making waves around the world!
