We couldn’t be prouder of one of Food24’s most loyal (and talented!) bloggers. Cape Town based blogger, Heinstirred has won first place in the food blogger category at the 2017 Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year.
His winning photograph (below) was amongst a whopping 7000 images entered and was judged by high-profile professional photographers including Jamie Oliver’s photographer, David Loftus.
‘It is an honour and confirmation that my work is of an international standard so it builds confidence which is a great thing to have’, says Hein whose journey into food photography and blogging was an organic one.
‘I started with a pretty basic mirror-less camera’, says the former accountant who’s now been blogging for four years. His blog and social media pages are a real feast for the eyes. But how does one go from crunching numbers to being an award-winning (self-taught!) photographer?
‘My advice to anyone is to just start. It’s only through constantly working at your craft that you build confidence and your work improves. Just as important is that you don’t need any expensive gear to start’ he says.
