This 15-page petition might just help us secure a white wine emoji

We’ve always found it so strange that there was a red wine emoji but nothing to represent white wine lovers but there are two beer emojis and even two champagne emojis. This all could change though thanks to the California based Kendall-Jackson Vineyard Estate that strongly believes in representing both wine varieties and are boldly petitioning for a white wine emoji.

What is said to be a 15-page detailed proposal to Unicode Consortium (the governing body that coordinates and sets global coding standards), points out the importance of a white wine emoji and also emphasises that Chardonnay is the most popular wine choice, so how could we not have a white wine emoji?

A short extract from the proposal begins with -“The existing wine glass emoji, depicted as a glass of red wine, does not properly represent one of the most popular and widely consumed adult beverages—white wine,” and highlights the fact that white wine is not properly represented in the emoji world.

And showing how serious this is to them, Kendall-Jackson has also set up a website WhiteWineEmoji.net which further highlights its mission to bring a white wine emoji to our screens.
