The renowned bakers with a tasty reputation for using the finest ingredients that create innovative cakes and novel food experiences are branching out to the city centre. They will be launching their second store on 5 October, which will be located in Loop Street, Cape Town.
The Velvet Cake Co. pride themselves in offering a big range of classic cakes with a modern twist, like their signature Red Velvet – a romantic masterpiece layered with cream cheese, coated fluffy marshmallow meringue.
The Velvet Cake Co.’s slogan is “Celebrate Everyday” – any of their cakes can be instantly transformed into a celebration cake by adding an elegant cake topper or custom-made cake stand. For savoury palates, they offer delicious quiches with interesting flavour combinations, such as Biltong and Blue Cheese as well as Salmon and Cream Cheese.
What started off in 2010 as a charming patisserie known as Treat, in the Northern Suburbs, evolved into The Velvet Cake Co. a mere two years later, earning a loyal following of clients based all over the Western Cape.
The new store is a result of popular demand from the brand’s customers encouraging them to open a branch that will serve Cape Town and surrounding neighbourhoods. Much like their branch in the Tygervalley area, the one-stop shop in Loop Street will also showcase the Cakes available to order online and much more. In addition, they have a select range of cakes available to purchase in store for last minute birthdays and special occasions. All their unique cakes and delicious delights will still be made by the same passionate bakers for which the brand has become renowned.
This family-run business was a long time dream of owner, Jandri Van Zyl: “After studying to become a patisserie chef, I worked very hard to create my own cake-haven and gain a devoted clientele”. Jandri shares her dream with business partner and sister, Carla. Together, they strive to create a company with strong family values. “We truly pride ourselves in offering unique creations that have that “WOW” factor, ensuring that we take our customers on a memorable cake experience.”
All The Velvet Cake Co. treats and gifts can be ordered online, with a minimum notice period of 24 hours, or directly from either their Northern Suburbs or new Loop street store. Customers can also grab a coffee in store while waiting for collections.
The new store will be located at 16 Loop Street, Cape Town, and will be operating from Monday to Friday from 09h00 to 17h00 and Saturdays from 09h00 to 13h00.
