The Oscars menu: 4 comfort food classics we are totally on board with

On the 24th February, Hollywood’s A-listers will don their best outfits for the annual Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Stay up to date with all the latest Oscar news on Channel24

While we’re interested in some of the stars’ fashion choices, which award Serena Williams will be presenting and whether or not Lady Gaga will have a plus-one following her recent split from her fiance Christian Carino… there’s something else that had us biting our nails during the build-up to this year’s Oscars: Chef Wolfgang Puck’s choice of menu for the Governer’s Ball.

The Austrian-born chef has been cooking for the famous Oscars after-party for the last 22 years! It’s safe to assume he might feel the pressure to bring something new to the table (excuse the pun). This year, the 1500 guests won’t be eating a full sit-down dinner, but rather enjoying passed small plates which will include hot and cold options and of course a dessert ‘action station’. Here’s the full menu and be sure to feast your eyes on some of the eats on Wolfgang’s Facebook page

With most of the food being gluten free, nut free and dairy free (it’s Hollwood, guys), there are some items on the menu that spoke to our food-loving hearts. Things we would definitely grab off a waiter’s tray.

1. Mini Burgers with aged Cheddar and Remoulade (who can resist eating a burger in a designer dress?!)

2. Baked macaroni and cheese (bring on the cheesy carbs!).

3. Chicken pie (this one is infused with black truffle, obvs.)

4. Oreo Cookie S’more Dome (we don’t quite know what that is but it sounds incredibly delicious!)

We weren’t being lied to when they said sorghum, the African superfood grain was being celebrated outside of SA. Wolfgang has created a “chopped salad with popped sorghum, shaved carrots, feta, croutons and Dijon-Champagne vinaigrette”.
