The Heath and The Tin Shack Tasting Room in Plett, reviewed

Great play area for the kids, a cheese shop that’s home to the original Plett “CheeseMan”, gorgeous Interiors and furniture shop, Radical Raptors bird centre, “Sunday Sessions” with live music under a tree-lined canopy and now The Tin Shack Tasting Room where you can taste and buy all of Plett’s vineyards full ranges of wines as well as huge selection of local Craft beers on tap and in bottles.

In owner, Rhys’ own words “Everything we do here is an expression of the amazing produce you can find down here in the Garden Route. Our herbs and veg are picked daily from the organic farm just a stone’s throw away, our bread is baked every morning by hand by our local Italian connection and our coffee is Roasted in George by brilliant local artisan Roasters ‘Beans about Coffee”

He and Themba (his right hand man) have extensive knowledge of the wines and beers that they have in stock and are happy to educate you through a tasting of the ‘days pics’ of wines or help you find the perfect bottle for you to pair with their decadently, delicious food. Amazing Burgers and platters made from locally sourced ingredients and plated with love.

The pricing is very reasonable: wines are all around R115 per bottle and a glass will cost you around R30 and food prices range from R45-R80.

Don’t just drive by on your way to Plett, stop in and have a look, stay for a bite, let the kids have a play and you’ll find that in no time your worries will have simply drifted away.
