The edible coffee cup you’ve always dreamed about

First, we were lusting after the chocolate chip cookie milk shots created by LA pastry chef, Dominique Ansel. Now we have the Alfred Cone, to dream about. It’s a dipped chocolate cone to hold your espresso or macchiato.

Alfred Coffee & Kitchen, hipster coffee hangout du jour in LA, with its relevant slogan, “But first, coffee,” first caught eyes with its ever changing coffee cup sleeves.

Now the Alfred Cone is taking centre stage. This secret menu item will rush you an extra $5 (R50) but it’s totally worth it, especially in the Instagram-worthiness department. With less waste than a paper cup, it’s kind to the environment, too.

Huffington Post reports that the cone is served with a wax paper holder to save you from getting chocolate gooeyness all over your hands as the cone melts.

Have you seen something similar in South Africa?

We think Cape Town, especially as the 2014 World Design Capital still has time to start serving up these on-trend treats.

After all, movie maker, Jim Jarmush said: “Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination.”

If not, perhaps settle for another combination of coffee and cookies – Coffee cookies or how about Cafe latte flavoured ice cream?
