The Rawdon Family, as custodians of Logan’s famous Victorian village of Matjiesfontein, are proud to announce a 5 year partnership with The Collection by Liz McGrath.
In retrospect this partnership began many years earlier with the sale of The Marine Hotel (Hermanus) to Liz McGrath by the late David Rawdon. It is from this base that the collective vision and drive for the rejuvenation of Matjiesfontein was born.
The cooperation will continue David Rawdon’s dedication to preserving a timeless and unique piece of South African heritage.
Liz McGrath and her team will be involved in upgrading the property, implementing changes in the dining experiences, and the overall hospitality offered by Matjiesfortein.
With Liz McGrath having been in the hotel business since the mid-1980s, she embraces many values which would be beneficial to the future of Matjiesfontein.
Johan Dipenaar, who has worked for the Collection by Liz McGrath for eight years, has been appointed as General Manager. His wife Tronette, an exceptional chef, will take over the role of Head Chef.
They both love the Karoo and The Lord Milner and will take the Hotel forward, providing comfort and charm for all the guests, as well as an exceptional experience in South Africa.
Through this collaboration with The Collection by Liz McGrath, The Rawdon Family will be in a position where they can realize their long-term objectives of lifting Matjiesfontein to a healthy, sustainable position and securing the future of the village and its people.
