The best holiday restaurants

There are 2 kinds of people in this world. Those who like Boney M, and those who don’t.

It is the 1st of November, or Movember, and I’m officially allowed to blast their Christmas Album at the office. And then, as far as I’m concerned, it’s officially Holiday Season!

The onset of holiday season also means every person who has a casual conversation with you will be asking where you are going for Christmas.

Many of us pack up the Venter trailer (do people still do that?) and head to some place where we can cool off for a couple of weeks  before we welcome the new year.

Loads head to Cape Town, we know that, Garden Route towns are very popular destinations, as are Durban, Margate, The South Coast and good old PE and surrounds. Even if you don’t leave the big cities like Joburg and Pretoria – we are sure you’ll still be having some amazing down time.

So, Food24 would also like to know where you are going, or staying, this year, and more crucially where you’ll be hanging out with your family and holiday pals? When you roll off the beach at 5 o’clock where do you go for a few cold ones? What about pizza night out with the family, burgers and beers with friends, or hitting a seafood and sushi extravaganza with any takers?

Please email us your favourite holiday hang-out – and why you love going there. What makes that restaurant or bar so special? We’d like to make sure we have them up on Food24 and put together a few Fun Festive Food Zones for our readers, and make it easier to check out some new spots to get your summer vibe on.

The best Holiday Restaurant suggestion to hit our inbox editor@food24.com gets a R500 Kalahari gift voucher – just in time for some Christmas shopping.
