South Africa amongst the drunkest countries in the world

Leading online curating site, Mashable, put this rather descriptive map highlighting countries that consume the most alcohol.

South Africans, over the age of 15 drink, on average, over 12.5 litres a year.

The dark blue shows South Africans are up there with the most well known drinking countries around the globe like Russia (who ranks off the charts), most of Europe, Australia and Canada.

The map was created from a recent study by World Health Organization findings, that also includes data stating over 3.2 million people died in 2012 from alcohol related consequences.
