I was sent this video and I just sat there, mouth agape, watching the process of how hotdogs are made.
I watched it on YouTube, it was made for the ‘How it’s made’ series on the Discovery Channel.
It is made in a rather clinical way and I don’t think it’s actually meant to shock… but shock it does.
The sheer volume of the meat that’s ground to a pulp and forced through massive pipes into a pinky gloop, might make you throw up just a little bit.
The addition of the ‘processed chicken trimmings’ and the ‘food starch’ in such a matter of fact manner is a touch terrifying. And then there’s the corn starch – just look at how much they pour in.
