SA’s best wine labels for 2018 – revealed

The annual Wine Label Design Awards, organised by the team from Winemag.co.za, took place on 14 March at the Cavalli Wine and Stud Farm in Somerset West where designers and wine farms were celebrated for their unique and clever wine bottle labels. 

Categories included: 
1. R80 a bottle or under
2. Over R80 a bottle
3. R500 a bottle and over
4. Labels forming a series

They were judged on: 

-Originality of concept

-Execution

-Shelf appeal

-Effectiveness as a piece of communication

Judges for this year were Christian Eedes (editor of Winemag.co.za), Rebecca Constable (Product Developer for Wine at Woolworths), Sean Harrison (Executive Creative Director of Whitespace Creative), Carla Kreuser (Freelancer and Ex-Creative Director at The Jupiter Drawing Room), Bertus Basson (SA Chef) and John Pace (Founder of At Pace)
