Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant
in Birmingham has also fallen victim to rioters in England.
The 270 seater Jamie’s Italian was attacked by rioters
on a rampage through Birmingham’s Bullring shopping centre on Monday night,
reported the Daily Mail and Telegraph.
The windows were broken, and Jamie tweeted: “Sadly my restaurant in Birmingham got smashed up. Windows all
gone, whole area closed, can’t open, staff and customers all safe
thankfully.”
Despite the vandalism, the restaurant was able
to open for lunch service.
Jamie also said on Twitter that his London food and kitchen shop, Recipease, had escaped rioters: “My cookery school was in
the thick of Clapham riot but seems they’re not interested in reading or
cooking as Waterstones & Resipease go left [sic]”.
He went on to thank the emergency
services and community who had helped to clean up.
This lastest blow to Jamie’s business empire comes shortly after the chef’s catering company lost over £350 000 in a year, due to mismanagement.
