Results from the Old Mutual Trophy Show 2014

The prestigious Old Mutual Trophy Show results were announced yesterday at the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town.

This competition is judged by a range of local and international judges including 2 Masters of Wine. All the wines are tasted and rated blind making it one of the more robust and authoritative competitions around.

The overall winner this year was KWV who garnered an amazing array of trophies both for their older museum class wines as well as their top range, The Mentors.

The competition also produced some slightly less expected winners in the form of Altydgedacht, Super Single Vineyards, Baleia Bay, Ultra Liquors, Highlands Road and Orange River Cellars – but that is the beauty of blind-tasting.

If a wine is good, it’s good no matter who makes it nor how humble the label may be.

All the winning wines will be available to taste in Cape Town on the 6th June and in Johannesburg on the 12th June.
