Restaurant Week is open for bookings!

As of this morning, booking for Restaurant Week officially kicked off. Enthusiasts can now browse the 100+ participating top restaurants and make their bookings for a lavish lunch or dinner, in the week of 22 October to 1 November.

In the past three days, VIPS have already been able to browse the booking website with priority access. They all quickly jumped to occassion and many restaurants saw their seats fill up in no time. Best performing are The Black Bamboo and De Kloof in Pretoria, Pigalle and oneNINEone in Johannesburg, Marc’s Table and The Grand in Cape Town and Durbanville Hills and Racine in the Winelands.

Luckily, there are still enough seats: all together, the restaurants made 50,000 seats available. The culinary event takes place from 22 October until 1 November 2015 and is being organised in South Africa for the third time. It gives diners the opportunity to try out the best restaurants in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria and the Winelands at a great price: only R95 for lunch and R175 for dinner. Selected restaurants indicated with a star, charge R50 extra per star.

Awards

Traditionally, Restaurant Week South Africa awards two restaurants with a prestigious title: the Food Network Best Restaurant Award and the Zomato Best Dish Award. The first is based on guests’ ratings: each guest is invited to rate their Restaurant Week experience on our website, which is then used to determine which restaurant has the overall best score. Last year, Buitenverwachting took home this prize.

The second is based on guests’ input too, as we enthuse each diner to take a picture of the beautiful dishes they’ve enjoyed, then enter these pictures in a photo competition on Facebook and lastly, vote for their favourite dish. Last year, Newton Johnson won this prestigous award. We look forward to announcing the two awards after Restaurant Week, in the first week of November.
