If you’ve been listening to this year’s budget speech, you’ll know that Finance Minister Tito Mboweni has stated that the price of beer, wine and cigarettes will rise

In fact, duty on a 750ml bottle of sparkling wine will go up by 84 cents with total taxes at R10.16 while a normal 750ml bottle of wine will go up just 22 cents with an excise duty of R3.15. 

The new tax will come into effect on 1 April 2019 so if you’re a bubbly lover, then don’t be shy to stock up now!
