Pippa Middleton is a qualified wine expert

Pippa Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge’s 31-year-old sister, appears to be poised to enter the wine world having just completed her Level 3 certificate in wine with a California-based school approved by the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, according to the Daily Mail.

The 15-session course covers every major world wine region and the viticultural and winemaking trends that affect wine style, quality and price. Systematic wine tasting is a part of every session, with over 90 wines tasted throughout the course, culminating with an exam.

Pippa passed the exam with a distinction, signalling that she is serious about wine. London-based Master of Wine, Greg Sherwood of Handford Wines says  “Pippa came to a few of our private tastings. She is very keen and very driven.”

Let’s hope she introduces more South African wines to the UK drinking public!

The UK-based Wine & Spirit Education Trust operates through a network of approved programme providers in 62 countries around the world, making them the mostly widely-used and trusted wine qualifications with more than 56,000 people sitting a WSET exam in the last 12 months alone.

Courses are available in South Africa via The International Wine Education Centre which offers courses in Gauteng and the Western Cape and The KZN School of Wine in KZN.
