Party food

Food can make or break a party. And although many would argue that its the drinks on offer which is key, I firmly believe it’s what you fill your platters with. Who wants to go to a party where the food is a barrel of Kentucky and some greens mixed together? Uuurgghh! So let’s bring on the food!

Food loving, party people

I’ve asked some party people what their favourite party foods are, and I’ve come to the conclusion that the criteria of party food is simple. It’s comfortable food, anything that is really difficult to eat and requires some thought is a big no, no. They key is to keep it simple.

Light and summery

Nothing says summer like fruit kebabs. It’s colourful and yummy and so easy. All you need to do is take your favourite fruit, such as, strawberries, mango’s, oranges (a bit messy, but worth it), kiwis, melons (sweetmelons and watermelons), banana (sprinkle lemon juice over these potassium babies, so they don’t turn brown), you get the picture, go wild and creative with this one…

Cocktail quiches are a favourite all year around and best for parties. They take a while to make but they taste really good.

Hot and spicy

Feeling a bit feisty? Then go Mexican. Try nacho’s, they really easy to eat and look really good. Try our nacho bites. Serve them with guacamole and you’re all set.

Flavoursame chicken rolls are not too heavy but certainly hits the spot. These are good for people who are really hungry but don’t want to eat too much.

Oriental chow down

Spring rolls are always a hit, if done properly of course. Try our easy recipe.

Refresh your guests with some sushi, stick to california rolls. They’re easy to eat and are kind of safe, so guests won’t be left wondering about what they just ate.

No mood to cook?

If cooking is not your thing, then platters are what you should be doing. Platters of cheese, cold meats, little kebabs and cocktail meatballs are sure to be a hit.

Guest friendly

Consider people who eat Halaal or Kosher foods as well as vegetarians. It is very annoying when guests need to keep checking what they’re eating.

And they partied the night away…

We’ve given you a taste of what you can serve at your party, now it’s up to you. Remember the key of throwing a good party is to enjoy it…

Happy munching!
