PARTNER CONTENT: Mugg & Bean customers come together to raise funds for kids with cancer

Currently, between 800 and 1 000 South African children are diagnosed with cancer every year, with approximately 80% losing their lives to it. During Childhood Cancer Awareness month (September), Mugg & Bean and its customers helped raise R991 895 for the Mugg & Bean Muffins for Kids with Cancer initiative.

For each muffin bought during the month of September, Mugg & Bean committed to donate R5 towards Cupcakes of Hope, a non-profit organisation aiming to raise awareness and funds for families of children suffering from childhood cancer and in need of medical assistance. Over and above the R5 donation, customers were urged to donate to the cause on the Mugg & Bean Generosity App.

“Approximately 80% of children with cancer in Africa do not have access to adequate care, ultimately and sadly impacting the mortality rate of children with the disease. In line with our passion for inspiring generous living, we are humbled to have the opportunity to join with our customers to make a small difference in helping children with cancer,” says Mugg & Bean brand manager Thulani Mahlangu.

Cupcakes of Hope assists, on average, 60 children with cancer each month by paying towards their medical treatments or other day-to-day expenses like food, clothing and transport for hospital visits.

Mugg & Bean has supported Cupcakes of Hope since 2012. Over the past seven years, it has been inspiring to see the impact this fundraising initiative has had on the lives of many families.

“We would like to thank Mugg & Bean customers for their generosity. Their kindness will go a long way in reducing the shocking childhood cancer statistics,” concluded Mahlangu.
