Partner content: Holidays made easy with Uber Eats

pizza from Uber Eats

It’s official – the festive season has finally arrived and, with it, come kids that have more energy, house guests that stay too long and eat too much, and homes bustling with busyness when all one needs is some R&R. Fear not … Uber Eats is here to save the day!

Uber Eats has rapidly expanded its offerings to provide users with more access to their daily essentials. Here’s how to use the app creatively to make everyone at home happy!

The great bake-off

Parents no longer have to spend most of their day in the kitchen, preparing meals for their kids as Moana’s “How far I’ll go” blasts on repeat. For those who haven’t clocked Nana’s recipe book between lockdown levels 5 and 4, including the infamous banana bread, here’s the opportunity. With Uber Eats, grocery items, including ingredients, can be effortlessly ordered via the app and will be at your door in under 30 minutes with a contactless delivery. Everyday essentials, including toiletries, pet supplies, fresh produce and medication, are all available on the app.

For parents who prefer to watch an animated classic alongside their kids, Uber Eats offers more than 400,000 menu items from over 80 cuisine types. With the app’s allergen filter, users are able to filter through restaurants and meals that are allergy-friendly, while still having the opportunity to leave a note to the restaurant kitchen to confirm any special request. The allergen filter makes it easy knowing that the meals on offer have been carefully curated to make the ordering process more efficient.

Eat right and stay healthy

With being at home, it becomes tougher to retain a healthy routine for both parents and kids. With Uber Eats, there are plenty of healthy eateries available to order delicious food and probiotic shots, including gluten-free and vegan-friendly meals.

This year, the app experienced a 71% increase in healthy orders made during the hard lockdown, a trend which has since continued. Orders for vegan-specific meals have tripled between 2018 to now.

With the option to schedule an order up to seven days in advance, a fruit smoothie or wholewheat wrap can arrive right on your doorstep at the same time as you. Alternatively, use the pick-up feature to get your food on the go by placing an order via the app and collecting it from a local restaurant to enjoy while on an afternoon walk. With so many options, the app’s map has been enhanced to show which restaurants offer pick-up while showing all restaurants available and their reviews, making it easier to decide where to order.

For you and for them

This year, Uber Eats partnered with a variety of other retailers to expand on their delivery outside of just food, to provide a holistic lifestyle solution to South Africans. Users are now able to order their favourite books from an extensive catalogue courtesy of the app’s partnership with Exclusive Books, while other everyday essentials can be ordered via Game outlets through the app. Alcohol can also be delivered via select outlets available on the app.

Safety is a priority at Uber Eats, and all stores, merchants and restaurants follow the strictest of hygiene protocols, while the app has included enhanced COVID-19 safety features that require all delivery partners to wear a mask before being allowed to pick up and deliver and all delivery bags to be sanitised before and after every order. Users are still able to track their order in real-time and have access to in-app support via the app for any queries.

Be it a book for mum, a chilled beer* and braai meat for dad, a puzzle for the kids, or even a favourite treat for the family fur-baby, Uber Eats has you covered this festive season.

*Uber Eats does not condone the consumption of alcohol to those who are under age and alcohol will be delivered to only those over the legal drinking age of 18 years.
