Obama – Foodie President

Back when America’s future Commander-in-Chief was a lowly State Senator he was featured on an episode of WTTW’s “Check Please,” where he reviewed popular Chigaco restaurant Dixie Kitchen and Bait Shop.

Back in the day he wasn’t looking for fancy presentation and extraordinarily subtle flavours… just food that tasted good, at a good price.

Things have changed
Although his tastes might have changed dramatically from Dixie Chicken to the more contemporary organic. It seems Obama has not entirely forgotten his foodie past and is being lauded as the first foodie president since Thomas Jefferson.

Experts believe Obama can make an impact with his very own diet. The fact that the first family is viewed by many as one that cares about eating organic is a good example to the American public.

American foodies also see Obama as someone who will deliver change for both small farmers and urban epicureans and his focus on climate change bodes well for issues regarding the food system.

The “Check Please” episode from 2001 was never aired until now – ladies and gentlemen, Barack Obama – restaurant critic.

Should he rather stick to politics?
