New chef takes Tarragon to finer dining

Janse van Rensburg brings her innovative and spontaneous outlook and signature dishes with her such as Nougat cake, Dried mango and chicken salad and Grilled kudu loin on sweet potato. It is without a doubt that Tarragon’s new chef is going to improve not only the culinary standards of the venue but service deliverance as well.

Janse van Rensburg’s career and extensive travels has taken her to Pete Gottgens Boutique Hotel Ardeonaig on Lock Tay in Scotland and Vamizi Island in Mozambique to name but a few.

She has cooked for CC Africa at Ngala Private Game Lodge in Timbavati, at Royal Malewane under executive chef John Jackson, and as head chef at Thornybush Main Camp, adjacent to the Kruger National Park.

Once back in South Africa, the 27-year-old Janse van Rensburg worked as the executive chef of Tinga Private Game Lodge in the Kruger National Park before moving to Tarragon.

From her experiences Janse van Rensburg’s unique style of keeping food simple with a rustic edge, will emanate from the deliciously flavoursome cuisine of Tarragon.

“My passion is desserts but anything that creates a taste explosion will find its way to the table. If there’s something a guest wants and it isn’t on our menu I’ll be flexible enough to create the dish from scratch” says Janse van Rensburg
