My 2019 pantry goals and the attempt to finally de-clutter

My New Year’s resolution for the last two years has been to de-clutter my tiny apartment. It’s a lovely and bright two-bedroom that was built before open-plan was a thing, and has a gorgeous little balcony overlooking Cape Town’s city bowl with a nice view of Lion’s Head. It puts me to real shame that I don’t do it justice…. there are books and old vinyls piled high gathering dust, boxes of miscellaneous sh*t that have moved about 5 times with me and a giant cupboard-come-pantry with things in it that I don’t think have ever seen the light of day since I moved in.

Thanks to the influence and hype that is Marie Kondo, I believe this will be the year that the de-cluttering actually materialises. My go-to resource for inspiration? Pinterest and Instagram of course.

I’ve also stumbled upon 3 helpful tips to keep in mind along the way…

1. Pick containers that appropriately fit your items, say Clea and Joanna of The Home Edit (the de-cluttering gurus of celebs).

2. The Kitchn says you should clear out all your spices (let’s face it, they don’t last forever!)

3. Finally, think about how you want to actually feel in that space. Great tip from organiser, Shira Gill.  (In my case I want to feel less frustrated that I can never find what I’m looking for).

Drool over these pantries if you’re also after some home organization inspiration!
