Moyo at Spier closes without notice

After moyo restaurants asked for rescue in 2013, the closure of moyo at Spier seemed less likely after months of time to recover and reconstruct.

The original moyo restaurant opened in 1998 in Noorwood and worked its way to partner with Spier wine farm for a number of years.

Unfortunately moyo has ceased operating with immediate effect from 26 March 2014.  Other locations around the country still remain open.

Spier released the following statement:

‘Spier’s two dining options – farm-to-table restaurant Eight and the Spier Hotel restaurant – will do their best to accommodate guests with bookings at moyo wherever possible.

In addition to these offerings, those who have made group and corporate bookings can also make use of Spier’s extensive conferencing facilities if available, as well as Eight, which is available as a function venue in the evenings.

moyo’s lease was due to expire at the end of 2014. Spier will be restoring the Werf (the historical farm yard area in which moyo was located) and is in the process of developing an exciting new offering in this location – watch this space!’

Queries about the closure can be directed to Spier’s General Manager, Joep Schoof.
