After winning last week’s MasterChef challenge, Khaya was placed in the hot seat; having to go head to head in a cook-off with one of South Africa’s most well-known celebrity chefs, Reuben Riffel.
The Dish
Seafood fricassée, a rather delicate and skilled dish with scallops, hake, potato gnocchi and a seaweed butter sauce. Khaya was given a 15 minute head start but had a total of 80 minutes to complete the task. Yikes! Reuben jokingly said that it was the longest 15 minutes he’d ‘ever experienced’ in his life!
She did extremely well, working quickly. Perhaps a little frazzled at times but managed to remain focused and pull it off in time. Although Reuben took the number one spot, Khaya lost the chance of gaining immunity but was still pleased with herself.
