MasterChef SA: Countdown to the final

The heat was on in the penultimate episode of MasterChef SA in which Seline and Kamini battled it out to see who would compete against Seline’s sister, Leandri, to compete for the title of South Africa’s MasterChef!

Meanwhile

Leandri was enjoying a well-earned rest when she was surprised by a visit from her dad and younger sister, presenting Leandri with her MasterChef chef’s jacket for the finale. Her proud father hung a very special pendant around her neck for luck, which belonged to her late mother.

‘These are the sort of moments that you look back on in fifty years’ time,’ Leandri confessed tearfully.

Back at the MasterChef kitchen

Seline and Kamini had to recreate a complex dish based on a ‘chawanmushi’, a traditional Japanese custard, set for them by one of South Africa top chefs, Luke Dale-Roberts.

In the end the judging came right down to the wire.

Chef Benny said Seline made ‘a fantastic replication of Chef Luke’s prototype dish’ and Chef Luke Dale-Roberts himself was ‘very, very impressed’ with Kamini’s effort.

But only one of them could win a spot in the MasterChef finalé. It was Kamini.

Seline was gracious in defeat with tears of joy, pride and relief, congratulating and cautioning Kamini to be nice to her little sister in the final showdown.

Who do you think will take the crown in the final tonight?
