Lower your calorie intake with these 3 healthy chip dips

Unhealthy snacking is an easy trap to fall into. It compromises all the healthy food choices you’ve been dedicated to all year. One of the most popular snack choices are potato chips, easily accessible, quick to have on the run or while the coals are heating up for the braai.

Sadly, very few of us are able to have just one chip – so we finish a half or even the entire bag. However, what makes potato chips a bad snack are the way they are prepared, as well as the spices used on them. Then there’s the obligatory chip dip. Usually consisting of fat, sugar, refined sodium and a whole bunch of other unnatural ingredients.

With these 3 recipes, you can enjoy the not-so-good-for-you chips with a side of “health”.

1. Avocado salsa – with corn, peppers and lots of garlic.

2. Nectarine basil salsa – fruity and sweet with a kick of lime juice for some zing.

3. Traditional tomato salsa – best when you have some ripe Summer tomatoes in the house!
