Looooong weekend menu

The long weekend has arrived! Time to breath out, relax and have your foodie fun. Prepare yourselves for a weekend of family, friends and, of course… food.

Friday:
Celebrate the beginning of the weekend with a big glass of wine, cosy fire, loved ones and a bowl of sumptuous seafood risotto, your cup will surely runneth over.

Saturday:
Prepare your heart for the weekend to come and kick-start the day with a healthy Thai pineapple shake.


Pull on your Springbok jerseys, hold your South African flags high and light those coals. Support our boys in green and gold with a traditional South African braai.

Toss together some colourful salads such as this asparagus and pasta salad with cashew nuts and a bright red leafy beetroot salad.
And don’t forget the creamy potato salad!

Instead of the usual wors and chops, try out this tasty char-grilled sirloin with café de Paris butter
and marinated grilled fish.

Complete your meal with a sticky and gooey malva pudding, with ice cream on the side.

Sunday:

Celebrate National Woman’s day by sleeping in. Leave this delicious flapjack recipe on your partner’s pillow, they will take the hint and bring you a scrumptious breakfast in bed.

Warm up with a lunch of bean soup with cheese dumplings.

For dinner throw together a mouth-watering apricot chicken potjie.

Monday:

Enjoy a wonderful relaxing lie-in on your day off, and as you will only get out of bed at lunch time, make it a veggielicous one. This
African vegetable stir-fry with sweet potato crisps or this
brinjal spinach bake with three cheeses , are both great vegetarian meals.

End off your weekend with a big bacon and goat’s cheese pizza while watching your favourite movie.
