Lavazza training centre a first for Africa

That is why the South African distributor of the popular Italian premium Espresso brand, Lavazza, launched the first ever Lavazza accredited Barista Training Centre in Africa.

The centre officially opened its doors on June 27 of this year in Johannesburg at the Ciro Alliances offices. It will provide training based on international research, knowledge and 100 years of Italian espresso making heritage.

Ciro Alliances, the distributor of Lavazza, began importing the Coffee from Italy in 2000. Over the past seven years it has shown enormous growth.

The first Lavazza Training Centre was established in 1979 in Turin, the home of Lavazza. Since then, 30 centres’ have opened worldwide, the one in Johannesburg being the first in Africa.

The goal of every training centre is to spark interest and provide the proper learning tools as well as experimentation with the latest coffee recipes.

The centre at Ciro Alliances will be open to Lavazza customers and offers courses in various areas of the preparation and production of the perfect espresso.

The centre is the first of its kind in South Africa and one can only hope that the knowledge and skills acquired by individuals who frequent it, will take the coffee industry in our country to the next level.
