Keith Floyd dies

After many years of entertaining us with his flamboyant and rambunctious persona on television, celebrity chef Keith Floyd passed away yesterday, Monday 14 September, following a heart attack.

Floyd introduced a whole new era to the cooking world; doing away with boring ‘how to videos’ and their monotonous presenters in studio settings and introducing his viewers to exotic locations, unscripted dialogue and delicious cooking. Not to mention his infectious love of a glass of the local vintage which he endearingly slurped whilst he cooked.

With his trademark bow-tie and wine glass permanently attached to his hand Floyd made cooking and drinking exciting and colourful. He made cooking accessible to the ordinary “bloke” and deemed a glass of wine or two while cooking a necessary ingredient in the process.

At the age of 65 Floyd leaves behind a legacy of 25 books, 20 television series, still syndicated world wide, restaurants and an award-winning one man show “Floyd Uncorked”.

Food24 raises a glass to a character that will never be forgotten and will be truly missed, rest in peace Keith Floyd.
