KAUAI’s ‘real food’ revolution

CAPE TOWN, Wednesday, 2nd September 2015 – South Africa’s largest fast casual restaurant brand KAUAI, announces the launch of its ‘real food’ revolution at the opening of the new concept store in Cape Town.  The slick new store is well located on the bustling, trendy Kloof Street, well-known for its eclectic mix of great eateries.

KAUAI introduced its ‘real food’ revolution with the unveiling of its new CI, new store look and feel, fresh new menu and customer experience at the opening of the new concept stores in Gauteng in July. Now, a whole array of the brand’s new ideas, designed to give customers a unique ‘nutritional theatre’ experience, will be found in the most photogenic city in the world, the City of Cape Town.

With ingredients as the heroes and the food as the colour, the new store is unassuming in its neutral palette of concrete tiles and cool white marble counters, complemented by warm oaks and crisp black-and-white graphics. Inspired by this clean line simplicity, the new KAUAI store exudes honesty, from its choice of build finishes through to its food offering – a monochromatic blueprint that will be replicated throughout the new KAUAI stores.

“KAUAI is all about revolutionising the way people view health and nutrition.  We are incredibly excited and proud to bring the fresh new KAUAI to the heart of Cape Town where it all started almost 20-years ago. Our teams have undergone extensive training to reflect this refreshed KAUAI personality,” says Dean.

The new open kitchen means customers can engage with the KAUAI staff as they are preparing their fresh and healthy creations – another exciting new brand development to show transparency and enhance the customer in-store experience.

The ‘customise it’ or ‘build your own’ counter boasts a wide variety of the best seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, to give customers a ‘nutritional theatre’ experience. In addition to the signature salads and wraps, customers are encouraged to experiment and create their own favourite wraps, salads and bowls. The ‘customise it’ option means that customers can experiment daily to their own healthy taste with a different wrap or salad.

Adds Dean: “KAUAI is committed to maintaining a supply chain that supports farmers using sustainable practices, and to use locally sourced fresh produce where possible. Serving the best quality seasonal ingredients means that we bring to our customers real food that, where possible, has no additives, preservatives, artificial colourants and flavourants. We want customers to feel better after eating a meal from KAUAI.”

Additional to the new menu is an inspiring selection of fresh, healthy and delicious meals, smoothies, raw juices, low GI frozen yoghurts with healthy toppings as well as Fairtrade coffee prepared by professional baristas. Some of KAUAI’s classic favourite menu items have been retained, but the recipes have been enhanced to fit in with the new nutrient-dense, wholesome menu offering.

Acquired by multi-brand food group, Real Foods (Pty) Ltd in February 2015 and now positioned as a fast casual restaurant, KAUAI has not only relooked its entire healthy food ecosystem, but also has a renewed focus on customer service excellence”.

Exciting new menu changes are currently being introduced across all stores and over time, the store design changes revealed today will be rolled out to the other 153 local and international KAUAI stores, including those in the Virgin Active Health Clubs.

Located at Lifestyle on Kloof, KAUAI Shop No. G19 & G20, 50 Kloof Street, Cape Town, the store will trade from 7am to 8pm from Monday to Thursday and Friday and Saturday from 7am to 9pm, and public holiday’s from 8am to 6pm.
