Kauai samples Low-carb menu offerings

Today marked a rare opportunity for media to join Professor Tim Noakes in a Q&A discussion on the facts behind Banting and the low-carb, high-fat eating plans; South Africa’s number one healthy quick service restaurant group, KAUAI, was right at the centre of this exciting event.

“Earlier this year, KAUAI partnered with internationally acclaimed researcher, Professor Tim Noakes on his latest health movement, Original Eating. This relationship is an extension of our mission to make it as easy as possible for those who want to eat more healthy and delicious foods, including those customers who are monitoring and limiting their carb intake,” says KAUAI Co-Founder and Chief Innovations Officer, John Berry.

Earlier this year, when Prof Tim Noakes’ book, The Real Meal Revolution became a best seller in South Africa and watching the number of people following his Original Eating lifestyle growing dramatically, KAUAI asked the OE team to review their menu and advise which existing meals on the menu could be easily adapted to comply with the OE guide lines. New menu items

Now KAUAI customers can enjoy a variety of tasty and convenient on-the-go meals including the KAHUNA Steak Salad (without the pineapple), Smoked Trout Salad with Olive Oil and Balsamic Dressing; Smoked Trout Scrambled Eggs, Full Island Breakfast and the Scrambled Eggs with Pesto and Rosa Tomatoes – all OE friendly meals if the toast is omitted.

KAUAI continues developing some new products specifically for OE and today local media sampled the recently launched Madras Style Chicken Curry Bowl with Cauli-Rice – an excellent source of vitamin C and a staple part of the Banting lifestyle; the Low Carb Wrap KAUAI is currently trialling and the Carb Conscious Delight Smoothie launching in October 2014.
