And so
another month of Vin-atics draws to a close! This month, sponsors KWV gave us
their newly renamed and re-labelled Classic Collection – a range of wines
offering bang-on flavours at extremely good prices.
Working in
the wine trade gives you amazing opportunities to try incredible wines both
from South Africa and overseas, and it is all too easy to get carried away and
think that you live in a world where everything is Grand Cru, five stars and
Auction-worthy.
Actually the reality is that you also spend quite a bit of time
tasting wines which aren’t worthy of the name; wine which are badly-made,
unbalanced, pretentious and just plain crap. So hand-on-heart honesty here – I
truly appreciate ranges of wines like the Classic Collection which shoot
straight down the middle and are absolutely correct, well-priced and tasty.

The Unprintable Dinner!
Aka ‘The
Blue One’! Boy did we have fun! Unfortunately, we are completely unable to give
you too many details for fear of getting blocked by all your servers and never
hearing from you all again. It was almost scary to see the enthusiasm with
which our guests hurled themselves into the ‘my terrible drunken story is worse
than yours’ competition which sprang up entirely unannounced. If you want to

Can you do better?
If not in
food and wine terms, then how about some better drunken stories?! Yes, it’s
