Julie and Julia

For all those food bloggers, lovers and writers out there, this is a movie that should not be missed!

Julie and Julia revolves around two women, though separated through time and era, connected by their love of food, cooking and writing.

Julie Powell (Amy Adams), an uninspired secretary with a love of cooking, starts a blog on her attempt at cooking all 524 recipes from Julia Child’s book Mastering the Art of French Cooking, in one year.

The movie also follows Julia Child (Meryl Streep) in the years that she spent in France while she wrote the book and learned about food. Child made the art of French cuisine accessible to a mainstream audience through her books, and later became a culinary icon with her television appearances and “how-to” cooking programmes.

Powell’s blog was eventually turned into her book Julie & Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously, which along with Child’s memoire, My Life in France became the inspiration for the movie.

Both women teach us that food is not something to be afraid of. Don’t approach a recipe with trepidation, but with excitement, don’t be afraid of failing, have fun and above all, never apologise.

This movie inspires you into finding your niche in the world, making it yours and sharing it with others.
