Jacoba Budden’s Japanese meal – Menu suggestions

MENU SUGGESTIONS

The great thing about Japanese food is that it makes for reasonably easy entertaining.

start with a plate of sushi or offer sushi and sashimi as the meal.

Make sure that you have enough, though because there’s nothing worse than being invited for dinner and your hostess hasn’t provided enough food.

At the end, everyone sits around staring at the last California roll or piece of Sashimi, too nervous to take it – so if you’re  doing that, bite the bullet and do enough.

If you find the sushi too costly, you could always make a big pot of kare raisu as your main meal and for something lighter make prawn and veggie tempura with a huge pumpkin salad.

A collection of fresh fruit and nuts will your best for dessert or pop over to the Japanese deli and buy a couple of packets of the sweet biscuits and, while you’re there, stock up on your prawn flavoured chips and soy sauces.
