International Vegetarian Day

World vegetarian day was established in 1977 by the North American Vegetarian Society. The aim of the day is to promote the joy, compassion and life-enhancing possibilities of vegetarianism.

Not only has a day been set aside, but it’s also the start to Vegetarian Awareness month.

Many choose to spend the day reflecting on their own lifestyle and the benefits thereof.

But basically World Vegetarian Day is just like any other day. Some vegetarian groups have potlucks (gathering of people where each person is expected to bring a dish of food to be shared among the group), others may organise expos for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike to enlighten themselves.

Meat eaters flirting with the idea of vegetarianism are encouraged to go vegetarian for the day to see if they like it.

Follow this Vegetarian Day menu and celebrate the day with vegetarians across the world.
