Hour of Power lunch at The Westcliff – a business meeting with no interruptions

Taking clients out for lunch meetings can be tricky. You’ve got to choose the right place – professional but not clinical, up-market but not uptight, atmospheric but not too loud. When you get there, you have the interruption of drinks orders and meal decisions, and there’s always that one person who doesn’t know what they want to eat. In between all of it, you’ve got to try to fit in your actual meeting.

To remedy this, the Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff in Joburg has introduced Hour of Power lunch, which “offers guests a sumptuous four-course lunch served on a single plate that arrives within minutes of being seated. This quick, uninterrupted lunch ensures guests have a productive business meeting in the most inspiring venue in Joburg.”

I tried the Hour of Power, and it really was a fast, seamless and delicious experience. The courses are bite-sized, but left me full, and nothing is too sloppy or awkward to eat. And, best of all, the only choice you have to make is what you would like for your main course (all the other courses are set).

The service was slick and unobtrusive, and the Four Season’s public relations manager, Genè Redelinghuys, and I got some serious chatting done. Having a breathtaking view of Johannesburg’s northern suburbs and jacaranda trees was a major plus.

If you’re someone who often meets with clients and contacts, this really is worth a go. The menu is changed weekly too, so you won’t get bored. I give this business lunch the thumbs up.

Hour of Power lunches run from Tuesday to Friday, 12pm to 2pm, and cost R395 per person. Booking is essential. Phone 011 481 6180
