The Chef
Gary Ruthven, the executive chef, describes his cuisine as
“modern cosmopolitan with a subtle South African influence”. Fresh seasonal ingredients with wholesome flavours and a generous dash of passion are the recipe for his culinary success.

Gary incorporates traditional elements of the Cape West Coast in ample seafood dishes, adding his modern spin to each creation. Not new to the industry, Gary’s relentless drive for culinary perfection has taken him through the top kitchens of Cape Town’s finest establishments, including the Mount Nelson Hotel and the V&A Waterfront’s Table Bay Hotel.

Gary has also cooked for an impressive line-up of local and international celebrities and stars, including the likes of Robbie Williams.

The Restaurant
This unique eatery at the Winchester Mansions Hotel is situated in Sea Point, Cape Town. The menu consists of light, summery lunches and dinners, and tempting sweet treats such as brûléed lemon tart with berry compote and blueberry cheesecake with lime sauce. Fresh summer berries and seasonal fruits are served with a variety of tempting compotes, sauces and creams. For the not so hungry, a scrumptious snack menu is served at the pool, bar or terrace overlooking the sea.
