I was watching a live TV show early this morning and there was a quick cooking segment which involved the person demonstrating a simple dish. I’ve made the same dish before (but failed to include a crucial ingredient) and thus, didn’t have a very successful result. In fact, it was hilarious!
Like the time I decided to make boiled eggs and forgot about them cooking away on the stove-top while I casually left the house to get to a meeting. My brother arrived home later that day to the sound of “tic-tic-tic-tic” … two black eggs dancing on the bottom of the pot (all the water had evaporated!).

Thankfully I’m not the only one that has experienced a few mishaps while cooking. One of my colleagues iced her daughter’s birthday ice cream cake with HOT chocolate icing and our restaurant editor once pan-fried raw tortellini pasta… back in the days when she wasn’t working at Food24 of course!
A few other people have mentioned their funny kitchen fails; like combining beer, curry and Flings in a pot (because they liked all three), or serving over-cooked, salty-bits-of-shoe-rubber calamari as a first time meal for a new love interest. Eish.
