Gourmet foodie theme park to open in Italy

The Municipality of Bologna, Italy, has set aside 80,000 square-meters for the ground breaking development of the ‘Disneyland of Food,’ according to the Wall Street Journal.

Eataly is well established in 26 locations across major international cities like Chicago, New York, Dubai, Istanbul, Milan and Florence with already 10 locations around Japan.

With economic downturn in Italy, a project like this could create hundreds of positions for out of work Italians and generate millions of Euros.  Support will not only be for the local community but also those individual producers and vendors whose products will feature at the new Fico Eataly World.

Eataly’s manifesto states ‘Good food brings all of us together, and helps us find a common point of view.  [They] believe that one of the greatest sources of joy is what happens around a dinner table,’ and what a big dinner table this project will prove to be.

At a cost of R550 million, Fico Eataly World is set to open 1 November, 2015.
