Gordon Ramsay starts season 2 of Uncharted in South Africa

The first season of Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted took viewers across the globe, traversing regions of Peru, New Zealand, Morocco, Hawaii, Laos and Alaska. The multi-Michelin-starred chef introduced us to unknown cuisines, ingredients and flavour fusions, and now – for the second season of Uncharted – he is putting the spotlight on South Africa.

“We are exploring seven new regions this season, each with vastly different culinary customs and history,” said Ramsay. “We get the opportunity to learn from the locals and hear their stories, and that gives us a much deeper experience and understanding of the world around us.”

We’re getting a front seat to chef Ramsay’s explorations as he experiences KwaZulu-Natal. Here, he discovers the secrets of Zulu warriors’ traditional cuisine and finds he’s a master on the braai. His adventure gives viewers a glance into South African wildlife, vivid vistas and bounteous produce. The chef’s culinary curiosity also leads him to leap into the shark-inhabited Indian Ocean from a helicopter to harvest mussels.  His journey on our coast culminates with him cooking alongside beloved local chef Zola Nene as they prepare to serve a revered Zulu chief.

“Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted became a firm favourite on the channel when it launched last year, and we are thrilled that his latest journey begins right here in South Africa. Chef Zola brings her delightful charm and unique expertise to the table, guiding Ramsay on how to pull off the perfect chakalaka among other distinctly and deliciously local dishes,” said Evert van der Veer, the vice president of Media Networks, The Walt Disney Company Africa.

Uncharted season 2 premieres on 26 August at 9pm CAT on National Geographic (DSTV 181, StarSat 220). This time, chef Ramsay will sharpen his knives in Indonesia, Louisiana, Norway, India, Tasmania, and Guyana.
