Giant Mistake

The Parlotones, arguably South Africa’s number one music band, are in the Mother City right this very minute recording their new album… amongst other things.

Did you know that these boys share another interest common to a whole lot of fellow SAFFAS? They are wine buffs. Well colour me a new shade of impressed.

A very marketable band, who have a genuine interest in a very South African product, and wouldn’t you know it – someone saw a great opportunity and took it.

“Hands on Wine” together with Allan Mullins (Cape Wine Master) and Pieter Walser of BLANKbottle got together with the band , found some quality grapes in the Western Cape (where else?) and made it happen.

A name for the wine just fell into their laps didn’t it? ‘Giant Mistake’ is of course the title of one of The Parlotones’ biggest hits. What a perfect name for a wine if one were to say…overindulge.

All the boys have been hard at work in the cellars of Bosman Wine Estate in Wellington, outside Cape Town, and the result is a fine wine made up of four cultivars, Pinotage and Shiraz amongst them.

‘Giant Mistake’ will soon be available on the shelves at Woolworths for everyone to indulge in whilst listening to their favourite band.

A short film about the wine will be available online once the wine has been released .
